Casterton continues HDWCA dominance
ISLAND Park hosted the match of the round in the first Hamilton and District Women’s Cricket Association game since Christmas, as Casterton and Balmoral played in what could be a prelude to the Grand Final.
As expected, on this occasion it was the undefeated Cats winning by 47 runs in front of a home crowd.
There was strong support in attendance for both teams but of course the home side enjoyed a few extra numbers as the skippers tossed the coin with Paige Cameron winning for the visitors and electing to bat first.
She opened the innings along with Amy Roesler, but the Balmoral chances were dealt a double blow as Roesler (four) and Tara Sullivan (one) were back in the pavilion with only 12 runs on the board as Clair Nolte and Renae Newell struck for Casterton.
