Girls football league launched
GIRLS football in the Western District is underway with the announcement of the inaugural season’s make up.
The competition, for girls aged between 13-18, will be called the Deakin University Female Football League and will consist of Portland Tigers, South Warrnambool Roosters, Horsham Saints, Horsham Demons, Warrnambool Blues, Hamilton Kangaroos, Old Collegians and Stawell Warriors.
Each team will play seven games throughout the season, which will be played on Sundays beginning on May 7, culminating in a round robin finals day and league best and fairest count at Hamilton’s Melville Oval on July 2.
AFL Western District Region General Manager Lachy Patterson said it’s great to have the competition up and running.
