Portland Colts takes home B grade honours
PORTLAND Colts is back on top of the world after taking out the Portland and District Cricket Association B grade grand final at Alexandra Park across the weekend.
Held across Saturday and Sunday, Colts took the honours early on day two, after dismissing Tyrendarra for just 94 after 54 overs on day one.
Colts was patient in the run chase, taking 43 overs to chase down the runs with captain Ash Elijah hitting the winning runs after a wild swing at a Nash Kitt delivery.
Tony Hollis was named man of the match for his excellent work with the ball on day one, where he snared 4-15 from 15 overs while Jamie Ferguson also cleaned up with 3-18 from 12 overs.
With the bat, Elijah top scored with 38 runs including four boundaries while Jeff Cook finished with an unbeaten 29 and Paul Richardson 16.
