Sharing stories from many cultures
PRE-SCHOOLERS and their carers are being invited to a special children’s activity hour this Thursday morning to celebrate Cultural Diversity Week.
The fun session is being organised by a group of students who themselves represent a wide cross-section of cultures.
Nasrin Akter arrived in Portland four years ago and is originally from Bangladesh.
She loves spending time with young children, and now that hers are older at nine and 16 years old, she decided studying a Diploma of Early Childhood Education would allow her to work closely with youngsters into the future.
Part-way through her course, she has thrived being able gain work experience at the Portland Child and Family Complex, Elsa Macleod Kindergarten and the YMCA creche.
