Bumper Easter trade; accommodation, cafes operators report busy times
GREAT weather, fishing, the Saturday Easter fair and the sight of trucks unloading woodchips on ramps have been listed as factors for a bumper long weekend for Portland accommodation providers and retailers.
Quest Apartments manager Terry Weissel said Friday and Saturday night were fully booked.
“Last year wasn’t quite as full, this year there were a lot of families,” she said,
“The town was buzzing this year, the bigger Easter Fair definitely makes a difference.
“Around 90% of people staying here were from Melbourne, and the majority of the rest from Adelaide.”
