Mice running rampant in Portland
THERE are the obvious signs…
The sounds of scratching in wall cavities, little black droppings in kitchen cupboards, and the normally docile cat running around the house with something live in its mouth before escaping to live another day.
Mice are on the move around Portland and according to one of the city’s rodent exterminators, Paul Banfield of Bullseye Pest Control, it is the worst plague in his 16 years of business.
“I am using more bait than I have ever used, this has been going on for the past two years,” he said.
“Normally during summer, mice activity slows down, but not this year, they are everywhere.
“They are usually in roof cavities and cause a lot of damage … they chew through wires and can potentially cause fires.”
