NORTH Hamilton Kindergarten students were shown around their new facilities for the first time on Wednesday during a visit from Member for Lowan Emma Kealy, as the construction of the refurbished facility nears completion.
For many years, committee members and families have been working to raise $90,000 to help fund the refurbishment of the new rooms. The efforts of the members were given a boost in November, 2014 when the Lowan government gave them a grant of $263,000 through the Children’s facilities capital Program.
Ms Kealy was shown the two newly expanded areas by local builder Craig Collins, committee members and project managers who have assisted with the construction of the new rooms.
Committee member and parent, Renae Porter said that the new facilities are a combination of six years of fundraising along with the grant from Lowan.
Ms Porter said “the $90,000 has been raised over a six year period through balls, the Kinder obstacle-a-thon” and other fundraisers.
