Outdoor pools future again in limelight
RESIDENTS of the district will get their chance to discuss what can be done to improve the service of their outdoor pools this summer.
After experiencing many issues surrounding the districts pools over the summer, Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) will conduct open community sessions at each district over the next two weeks to improve issues surrounding the outdoor pools. They will visit each outdoor pool to gather feedback from the community.
Swimming woes were frequent during the previous summer with many pools closing due on-going issues.
Coleraine pool missed out on many days of swimming due to pump issues and high PH and chlorine levels. Penshurst was hard hit by the lack of available local lifeguards, while Hamilton Olympic Pool and other district pools were also closed at various times during the summer.
Complaints were frequent throughout the warmer months as many started to ask for membership refunds. Residents were unable to access their local pools at various stages, with the majority forced to check the Hamilton Olympic Pool’s Facebook page for daily updates.
