Council sets direction and approves budget
SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council has agreed to give priority to new hockey clubrooms at Pedrina Park, the emerging Balmoral Community Centre Complex and extension to the Sir Reginald Ansett Transport Museum in the coming year.
The three projects, along with an increase in council’s Emerging Priorities Fund, were key commitments made as council formally adopted its 2017-18 budget on Tuesday evening.
The budget forecasts an operating surplus of $22.214 million, and council expects to hold $11.339 million at the end of the current financial year.
It provides $42.394 million which includes flood restoration works of $20.547 million.
There will be a 2.01 per cent increase in the general rate, including supplementary valuations which take it just above the rate cap of two per cent set by the state government.
More detail on the Pedrina Park, Balmoral complex and Ansett museum projects will be made known at council’s next ordinary meeting, on July 26.
