Marshall elevated on to Saints’ senior list
PORTLAND footballer Rowan Marshall is one step closer to living out his AFL dream after being elevated to St Kilda’s senior list last week.
The elevation, announced on Thursday, allowed the Saints to name Marshall, 21, as an emergency for Friday night’s clash with Essendon and is a clear indication he is close to making his AFL debut.
Marshall, who was drafted by St Kilda in the 2016 Rookie Draft, was stoked to be upgraded.
“I found out Wednesday afternoon, Richo (St Kilda coach Alan Richardson) gave me a call when I got home from training and said they were looking at upgrading me,” Marshall said.
“I found out Thursday morning at training that everything had gone through so I was pretty happy.
“They’ve had a spot available on the main list for a while now and Richo said if I played well enough there was a spot there for me.
“My form in the VFL has been alright now for a month and I got upgraded.”
