Portland career firefighter vacancies remain open
CFA district four operations manager Peter Novotny said the CFA is continuing its plan to recruit further staff that will work additional shifts at Portland Fire Brigade.
Mr Novotny said the current State Government inquiry into the operation of fire services across Victoria did not impact on the recruitment process.
“The inquiry’s looking more at the relationship between the staff and the volunteers,” he said.
Mr Novotny said the long-term policy of the CFA is to have four career firefighters on duty at a time in Portland, 24 hours a day, meaning Portland community members could expect firefighters to respond to their calls within 90 seconds of the receipt of a call.
