Lambevski wins SWDFL senior best-and-fairest
IN front of a roaring crowd in Dartmoor on Monday night Branxholme-Wallacedale’s Tom Lambevski was crowned the 2017 South West District Football League best and fairest award winner.
The 21-year-old Saint finished in front of the pack in a dramatic final round, collecting three votes against Tyrendarra to not only seal his team’s first finals appearance in more than a decade, but also claim the league’s highest individual prize.
Lambevski finished ahead of a cavalcade of the competition’s best midfielders – with Dartmoor’s Josh Woodall finishing in second with 22 votes,
Heywood’s Nick Johnstone in third with 19 votes and Westerns’ Marcus England in fourth with 18 votes.
Traditionally a small forward and now a classy inside midfielder, Lambevski played in all 16 home and away games and finished with 12 goals.
