The second coming of Sarah
A DRAMATIC career change has led 30-year-old, Sarah Twyford, in a winning direction after she was awarded the 2017 Australasian Young Designer Wool Awards at the opening night of Sheepvention.
Ms Twyford was awarded the top price and received a $10,500 Handbury Scholarship to study at Instituto Marangoni in Milan for her elegant navy, black and white race wear ensemble made of wool.
The strapless, mermaid style dress was matched with a navy cape jacket both spotted with white hand-made flowers.
Ms Tywford’s design was selected as the overall winner from the five categories; corporate wear, race wear, evening wear/formal, fantasy/theatrical, street wear/sportswear.
The budding designer was completely overwhelmed when announced the winner from the 38 entries.
Ms Twyford, who is also a qualified pharmacist, is in her final semester of the two-year Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design at TAFE South Australia and said it was an honour to win the award.
“I’m pretty overwhelmed. There were so many beautiful garments, I did not expect anything.
