Wendy’s passion to help young people realise their potential
ENTHUSIASTIC youth engagement officer with the Western District Health Centre, Wendy Dean, has a full book of programs ahead for young people in the Greater Hamilton area.
From holiday programs to self-esteem conferences, from Freeza activities to pursuing the idea of a Youth Centre, Wendy is listening to what young people want and working to make it happen.
She said WDHS established a Youth Board in 2016, allocating financial resources to support this initiative and a variety of other programs including the successful School Holiday Program which is funded by Hamilton benefactor Geoff Handbury.
“We also receive Freeza funding for youth events in the region. Previously the State Government discontinued its funding of the WDHS Youth Program in late 2014,” Wendy said.
