WET AND WOOLLY
SHEEPVENTION 2017 has kicked off with an all-too-familiar burst of cold and rain but the show and field day is set to be a bumper event for Hamilton yet again.
About 400 people attended the highly anticipated gala fashion launch on Sunday evening at the Hamilton Exhibition Centre in which TAFE student SA Sarah Twyford took out the top prize.
Auxiliary buildings and tents have been in place for more than a week at the Showgrounds and Sheepvention president Gordon Last says the grounds are well capable of handling some wet weather.
“We had 21mm of rain overnight and 14 yesterday so we’ve had 35mm of rain for the past two days but the Showgrounds still look a picture,” he said.
“Yes we’ve been pumping a few woodchips out (for better footing) but that’s all part of the fun.
