Long time South West servant Hawker steps down as league president
THE South West District Football Netball League will head in a new direction in 2018, after president Chrissy Hawker stepped down from the role.
Hawker had spent 16 years in the league as an administrator before taking on the role of presidency from Selwyn Jones for 2017, becoming the first female president of the league.
As part of her role managing the league, she has also helped the integration of the Regional Administration Centre (RAC) hub located in Warrnambool last year.
After nearly two decades of service, Hawker said it was simply time to move on.
“I’ve had 17 years in football and with the changing landscapes of local footy, it’s not like how it used to be; I said last year I’d give them a year to help with the transition of the RAC,” Hawker said.
