South-west residents concerned over pollution
POLLUTION from smoke, dust, water, waste, noise and odour is high enough in the south-west to be of concern, the Environment Protection Authority has found.
EPA’s 2016-2017 Annual Report has confirmed 1500 pollution reports were made by community members in the south-west district.
South-west presented the third highest amount of pollution reports in the state behind metro and south-metro.
Odour was the most common pollution resulting in complaints, with 455 reports, while noise (193) and waste complaints (151) were also cause for concern.
Odour pollution came from sewer waste and landfill management, among others, and was the most complained about pollution state-wide.
