HAMILTON and district primary schools’ 2002 Aussie Footy program began on Wednesday afternoon with well over 200 youngsters participating in a double round of matches at Pedrina Park.
Aussie Footy is a modified rules program played on Wednesday afternoons that emphasises skill development, enjoyment and participation rather than winning and is aimed at primary school children between the ages of nine and 12.
The program consists of 11 teams – St Mary’s Gold and Green, Gray Street Red and Black, George Street Red and Green, Grampians (Dunkeld, Cavendish and Glenthompson), Hamilton North, The Hamilton and Alexandra College, GST (Good Shepherd and Tarrington), and BMW (Macarthur and Branxholme / Wallacedale).
Highlights of this season’ s Aussie Footy program are:
LITTLE League – two Hamilton teams to represent Coilingwood and Melbourne at the MCG on July 22 (for regular Auskick attenders).
WESTERN Region Junior Carnival – two Hamilton teams will be competing against several neighbouring district teams at Hamilton on May 26 (Auskick members).
