AN unattended fire in the back yard of a residence in Portland Rd was apparently the cause of a fire in crown land along the Grange Burn on Tuesday.
Hamilton Fire Brigade administrative support officer, Steve Cooper, said several concerned residents in the area reported smoke, and tankers from Hamilton, Grange and North Hamilton responded at about 12.30pm.
The fire burnt about two hectares of grass and reeds and tankers were back in station by 3pm.
Another fire was attended by several brigades yesterday Wednesday morning at Sleatbank on Murndal Rd. It apparently started from a previous controlled burn.
The brigades were called to the fire at about 9.30am.
