DAYLIGHT saving ends at 2am Sunday (turn your clocks back one hour), and everyone is being urged to also change their smoke alarm batteries this weekend.
Only working smoke alarms save lives and Portland CFA brigade captain John Hanson said the smoke alarm is the most important battery operated device in the home.
“Smoke alarms provide an early warning of fire which can save lives by providing time to escape. Without a working battery there is no sound and therefore no warning,” he said.
People are encouraged to use a long-lasting alkaline battery.
