HUNDREDS of people flocked to the Bentinck St on New Year's Eve to bring in 2006.
With something for everyone, music, live entertainment the carnival and kid's activities, it was the midnight fireworks that got everyone's attention as swarms of people stared into the sky in awe.
Portland police have praised the community for their good behaviour on New Year's Eve.
A police spokesperson said there were no major incidents on the night apart from a few drunk people, but that overall police were extremely impressed with the night.
