Fire razes house

FIRE completely destroyed an unoccupied house in Balmoral on Saturday afternoon.

The fire started about 4pm and firefighters had no hope of saving the house when they arrived.
The residence was on the Horsham-Natimuk Rd, opposite the Balmoral pool.
Police from Balmoral, Hamilton and Coleraine attended the fire, along with Balmoral and Balmoral North Fire Brigades and Balmoral SES members.
CFA region four operations officer, Steve Cooper, said the fire started in one of the bedrooms.
Senior Constable Peter Mailes, of Balmoral, said the fire was currently under investigation.
“It is unknown how the fire started at this stage, however, police are currently investigating,” he said.
