THEO Zaxos won the toss at Edenhope and invited Dergholm to bat. Matt Treglown (9) and Martin Bennet (6) were soon back in the pavilion, courtesy of Chris Carter and Chris Hateley.
Brett Vaughan and David Humphries then added 28 runs for the third wicket before Vaughan (25) was trapped in front Zaxos. A fourth wicket partnership of 136 followed, with good contributions from David Humphries (64) and Leonard Dixon (26).
Other good contributors with the bat for the Scrubbers were Andrew Polderman (19 not out) and Shane Cryer (19 not out) as Dergholm closed at 6-178cc.
Best of the Edenhope bowlers were Toby Sloan (2-38) and Theo Zaxos (2-47). The Dergholm oval is traditionally very slow before Christmas and the Scrubbers’ first innings total may prove very challenging for the visitors from the North.
