A BOAT was stranded on the Henty Hwy on Wednesday morning after it was knocked from its trailer.
Senior Constable Sean Elliott of Portland police said the accident happened at about 9.45am near the Portland Alexander C Service Station.
Sen Const Elliott said it was believed a Holden four wheel drive was towing the 4.5 metre fibreglass boat on a trailer and come out of the service station and went across to the turning lane in the median strip to head back towards Portland when a Commodore sedan collided with the back of the trailer.
This sent both the cars across the inward bound lanes, with both coming to rest on the grassed area in front of the North Portland Cemetery.
Sen Const Elliott said the driver of the Commodore was taken to Portland District Health by ambulance for observation, but sustained no serious injuries.
Both the Commodore and the boat had to be towed from the scene, with the road blocked for about five minutes while the Commodore was loaded onto a tow truck.
Police are continuing their investigation, he said
