AS The Spectator was being printed this afternoon, the office received the exciting news that Sammie Hunter was another step closer to home, with transfer to rehabilitation facilities in Warrnambool scheduled for tomorrow.
Sammi’s mum, Marie, said on Tuesday that her daughter’s condition had taken a positive turn this week, as she recovered from the injuries sustained when her car ran off the road and hit a tree, just after 8am on January 3.
Marie said time away from home had been a great drain on the whole family, but well wishers had helped keep everyone’s spirits up.
Chip in for Sammi
THE Spectator has launched an appeal to give Sammi and her family a little relief on her road to recovery.
Principal Richard Beks has thrown in the first $100 to kick off the appeal and well-wishers are welcome to forward donations to The Spectator office.
Donations will be accepted at The Spectator office and cheques made out to The Spectator Sammi Hunter Appeal can be mailed or hand delivered to The Spectator, 59 Gray St, Hamilton, 3300.
