IT’S been over a year since Helen Henry decided to turn a desolate piece of land into Hamilton Community Orchard with the help of a sustainability grant she received from Southern Grampians Council Shire.
Ms Henry said she would be applying for another grant this month with hopes to improve the thriving orchard on Strachan St even more.
“We would like to get some sort of shelter and a watering system,” she said.
“We’d also like to use the funding for little signs next to the plants, because it’s about education as well.”
“I stood on that orchard site over a year ago and it was barren and unloved. I look back now and I just think wow,” she said.
