A BIGGER and better Merino Show has been planned for 2012 with attendees told to expect something different from previous years.
A Merino sheep throwing competition, ute muster, sheep dog trials and a Prime Lamb competition will join regular show favourites for this year’s event.
The show, held on February 18, will have all the features of a Pastoral and Agriculture Society event with horse and cattle sections and sessions for dogs, pets and poultry.
There will be show bags and rides, food carts, live music, Miss and Master Tiny Tot categories, a special visit from Portland Strawberries and Cream and the popular ‘Merino Gift’ race.
Merino P&A Society president, Dani Telley said this would be a show like never before with organisers deciding the event needed revamping.
New members were brought to the committee and some of the new events were ideas from them.
The Sheep Dog Trial will run for the first time and already 58 dogs have been entered.
The show will be held at the Merino Recreation Reserve and people interested in any of the categories should contact Show secretary, Wendy Lane, on 5570 0521.
