HAMILTON resident, Sandra Moritz, will be pulling on her walking shoes and pounding the pavement in support of women and children living in poverty.
Ms Moritz has registered for the Walk in Her Shoes Challenge and will walk 10,000 steps a day from March 12 to 18 to raise money.
CARE Australia and The Body Shop at Home have linked up to organise the campaign with fundraising targets to help women and children in developing countries.
The aim of the challenge is to raise money to provide water pumps, food, education scholarships and health opportunities, in the hopes of empowering women and reduce poverty.
It is the first time Ms Moritz has taken part in a challenge like this and she will have to walk about eight kilometres a day to get to her 10,000 steps.
“I like helping people I hate to think of children and women having to walk miles just for food, water and firewood,” Ms Moritz said.
People can donate to Ms Moritz or register themselves by visiting www.walkinhershoes.org.au/sandra_moritz.
