MERINO Digby Lions Club members have plans to make Merino’s War Memorial safer and are hoping to have the job done by Anzac Day.
Club secretary, Alf Lane said the group was determined to fix the town’s memorial after concerns were raised for people’s safety as they tried to pay their respects.
Merino’s war memorial is located on the traffic island that separates the town’s main street from the service road.
The raised traffic island has a step of about 20cm that people need to cross and it is that step that is causing concern.
