PORTLAND Colts’ Alister Stannard and Portland Tigers’ Daniel Falcone are the toast of the Portland and District Cricket Association.
Stannard and Falcone were joint winners of the A Grade Cricketer of the Year award at Monday night’s 2011-12 presentation dinner.
Falcone polled six votes in the final home-and-away round to join Stannard on 22 votes.
South Portland pair Troy Warburton and Tony Aitken finished the count with 16 votes, followed by Portland Colts’ Glenn Hollis and Adam Barbary, Gorae-Portland’s Stephen O’Brien and Tyrendarra’s Ben Menzel … all with 12 votes.
It was a shocked Falcone who spoke to the Portland Observer following the conclusion of the voting.
“A bit shocked … I didn’t expect to win it,” he said.
While defeated by South Portland in last weekend’s semi final, Falcone said it had been a “pretty good year” for the club.
