HEYWOOD Football Netball Club is on track to find success and sustainability in the South West District Football Netball League.
“A main part of the committee’s decision to change leagues was about making sure that we still have a football club in Heywood, and that decision has really been supported in the last couple of months,” HFNC president Michael Bell said.
“We’ve got nearly 35 to 40 players training regularly, whereas this time last year we probably only had 10 that were training for senior football.
“It’s a significant difference; the players can see a future in the South West league for us. To have nearly 50 players registered has been excellent.”
Bell said that the club was focusing on ensuring local players play locally.
“We’re trying to build the capacity of the local footballers to play at Heywood which will build a lot of foundation, and give us sustainability for the future,” he said.
To do this the club is aiming to be successful on the ground.
