PORTLAND’S All Saints Church has a new leader with the arrival of Father Peter Sherman this week.
Fr Peter’s appointment fills the seven-month vacancy for parish priest in Portland.
Fr Peter has moved from Horsham where he was the parish priest for 15 years.
“The bishop called for expressions of interest after Fr Denis (Ryan) transferred to Robinvale and I decided it might be time for a sea change from the Wimmera,” Fr Peter said.
“After 15 years it’s good for the parish to experience someone else.”
“Portland has been very welcoming, I’ve already met some of the parish and look forward to meeting more.”
With 31 years under his sash Fr Peter brings plenty of experience to his role, although Portland presented him with some surprises.
