PORTLAND Men’s Shed members are adapting 300sqm of the amenities area at the former Borthwicks plant for the relocation of their premises.
It will be the first time the group has had a permanent home of its own.
Portland District Health community health counsellor and president/coordinator of the shed, Gerry Leonard, said the home and renovation process was a great bonus for the 22 male members of the shed.
“Our members are up there getting involved and doing the hands-on work. It is great experience for everyone,” he said.
Mr Leonard said Portland Men’s Shed is a Donated Gift Recipient incorporated body, and could accept unwanted household furniture such as tables, chairs or other surplus shed items that can be recycled or reused.
He said all members would benefit for having their own space.
