THE curtain came down on a bumper Southern 500 Speedway 2011-12 season on Saturday night.
“We had a great night,” club secretary Trevor Logan told the Portland Observer.
“Weather-wise we couldn’t have wished for better.
“The racing was tremendous in every class … really it was.
“If the public wasn’t happy with the racing they got, well I don’t know what we’ve got to do to please them.”
Logan said there were quality fields throughout the night’s program.
“That quality shone out in the finish,” he said.
“Even with the AMCA Country Cup second last round, Australia one (Campbell Hughes) got up and won it.
