A CELEBRATION is planned to mark 150 years of Methodism in Hamilton.
The event will recognise 150 years since the laying of the foundation stone for Hamilton’s first Methodist Church on May 8, 1862.
An old-fashioned Methodist tea is planned for Sunday May 6 from 5.30pm in the Fellowship Centre of the Uniting Church.
It will be a ‘bring and share tea’ as was done in the past and there will be lots of music and old Methodist hymns.
Photos of the McIntyre St original church will be displayed and people are asked to bring along any memorabilia they may have.
