THE Portland Mother’s Day Classic returns again on Sunday to raise money for, and awareness of, breast cancer.
The event has been running in Portland for four years now and organiser Graham Sealey said it just kept growing in size each year.
“We have been really lucky to see the event grow and gain more support in the community, it really is a fantastic event for a very worthwhile cause,” Mr Sealey said.
The classic is held at the Fawthrop Lagoon and involves people doing a 4.2 kilometre walk/run, which is twice around the lagoon.
If you don’t want to do the walk or run, you are more than welcome to come down and support the other walkers and enjoy the activities and entertainment on offer, Mr Sealey said.
“We have Gav Riddell and friends providing musical entertainment, along with PJ Croft, and Leonie Campbell is organising some activities for the kids,” he said.
While the weather forecast isn’t expected to be too favourable, Mr Sealey said it would still be fun and suggested people should wear a coat and bring an umbrella!
