THE Heywood Newsagency was extensively damaged by fire late last night.
Fire units from Heywood, Portland, and Heathmere attended the blaze.
The fire was reported to the Country Fire Authority at 8.56pm and was contained within an hour.
Adjacent businesses, the Bendigo Bank and butcher shop received smoke damage.
Newsagent owner Myles Morris said last night he had been overwhelmed by offers of community support to temporarily establish the business at other premises in the town.
