IN a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Dundas Fire Brigades Group, a slice of rich history will be preserved in order to share the stories of countless volunteers.
Instant Suppression, a book detailing the Dundas Group’s history from 1962 to 2012, will be launched on July 5 and hopes to promote volunteer pride, give something back to past volunteers and encourage other people to join a brigade.
Author and historian, Betty Huf, has spent the last four years collecting stories and information about the 25 brigades so their history was not lost in time.
“By recording their stories, a sense of pride in their service will be reinforced and an insight given to current district residents of the experiences of their forerunners,” she said.
