BOWEL cancer test kits supplied during Rotary Bowelscan Month have been flying out the door of local pharmacies and, with only four days left in the month, pharmacists are urging people to pick up the few remaining kits.
Both Portland’s Amcal and Guardian pharmacies have reported the speed in which the test kits are being purchased has led to some supply issues, and the stores have found themselves without a supply on some occasions; Guardian Pharmacy has so far sold 130 kits alone.
In a letter to the editor, Portland resident John Arden said he visited Portland Amcal Pharmacy two days in a row last week and no test kits were available (see his letter on page 4).
However, both the Amcal and Guardian Pharmacy have been making reservations for orders when the kits have run out.
Portland Amcal Pharmacy assistant Janelle Phillips said roughly 40 kits were left and no more were likely to be ordered in before the end of the month, so customers will need to be quick.
