THE Dartmoor Ball in the Hall event has been hailed a success by organisers.
About 120 people ventured out to the ball on a cold winter’s night, eager to show their support for the event that is the first of its kind to be held in the Dartmoor Hall for quite a few years.
The ball was held as a fundraiser for the Dartmoor Football Netball Club (DFNC) and also with the aim of getting the community using the hall again for social events.
“It went really well, young and old attended the evening. It was great to see the ball bustling with people again,” organiser Liz MicKinnon said.
“We were hoping for a few more, but the clash with school holidays may have hampered numbers slightly.”
The DFNC committee is hoping word about the ball will spread and interest will rise, resulting in a greater number of patrons when they hold it again next year, but with some slight changes to the format.
They are still calculating how much was raised, but estimate it will be a few thousand dollars that will go towards a number of projects around the club, including improvements to the netball courts.
