PORTLAND “young gun” Jay Moody is poised to take his promising football career to another level.
His selection in the Victoria Football Boys 15 Years and Under Country Team to contest the School Sport Australia Championships represents an exciting time for the youngster.
Vic Country’s preparation to date has involved training and tactical sessions, while off the field there has been a team photo session and jumper presentation.
Moody has been earmarked for a role across the team’s half forward line.
“I am pretty happy about that,” the Portland Secondary College student told the Portland Observer.
Moody will take excellent form into the championships.
The skilful forward marked his Portland Under-18 debut with a nine-goal haul in the match against Hamilton Imperials on July 7.
“It was really good to play with the boys for the first time,” he said.
While that gave him a taste of added pressure and intensity, he is under no illusions as to what he can expect throughout the championships.
