INVESTIGATIONS to determine the cause of Saturday’s double fatality on the Hamilton Hwy near Penshurst will be a long process.
Police have now confirmed that the names of the two women killed in a horror two-car collision near Penshurst about 5.20pm were Beverley Taberner, 63, and Ruth Henshall, 35.
Ms Taberner was the sole occupant of a vehicle travelling toward Hamilton. She was being followed by her husband in another vehicle.
Ms Taberner was from the Geelong area, but had relatives in Hamilton; it is believed she was dropping the vehicle to a relative who had been involved in a separate accident earlier in the day.
Ms Taberner died at the scene.
The other vehicle was driven by Ms Henshall, of Dale’s Creek; her three-year-old daughter and two dogs were passengers.
Ms Henshall died of her injuries en-route to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
