THREE aluminium ingots, that are of little use to the general public, were stolen from the Strang compound on Madeira Packet Rd sometime over the weekend.
Detective Sergeant Jason Von Tunk of Portland police Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) said sometime between Friday afternoon and early Monday morning a hole was cut in a cyclone fence to gain entry to the compound and three ingots were stolen.
Det Sgt Von Tunk said the ingots, which weigh about 50kgs each, were taken from the compound by car.
“There is no value in the ingots to the general public, they will not be taken in by scrap metal dealers,” he said.
“It is useless to take ingots unless you need something to hold a door open.”
