THE Anglican Parish of Hamilton farewelled their Locum Rector, Father John and Frances Howells, in a final church service last Sunday.
Fr John, who forewent retirement after a request to look after the Hamilton parish, said he had fallen in love with the town and people.
“It’s just a very warm, friendly community,” he said.
“It takes about half an hour to walk from one end of the street to the other because there are so many people you know.”
Fr John held two weekly services in Hamilton and rotated visits to Cavendish, Glenthompson, Dunkeld and Penshurst each Sunday.
“It was great driving out in the mist and fog, seeing the great gum trees in the paddocks; it’s such a beautiful part of the world,” he said.
