GROUPS of cheering school children waving posters, loud commentators and intrigued adults added to the atmosphere of stage one of the 2012 Budget Forklifts Tour of the Great South Coast cycling race in Portland on Wednesday.

People lined both sides of the retail section of Bentinck Street as top class cyclists from across Australia raced 25 laps of the 1.6km waterfront circuit.
