TALKS are ongoing with 20 Kalari employees who were told late last week that they will be made redundant from the company’s Portland branch.
A Kalari spokeswoman said yesterday that at this stage no more of the branches 50 employees had been fired and redundancy packages were still being finalised for the 20 employees who will work their last shift on September 28.
In last Wednesday’s Portland Observer, a Kalari truck driver said he expected more employees to lose their jobs because several major companies no longer needed the company’s services.
The company is closing its general freight and rail siding services due to prolonged underperformance in different areas of operation, it said.
The Transport Workers Union failed to provide comment before publication.
