Loading ...FATHER of three Paul Beattie has been selected as Portland’s first Community Father of the Year.
The inaugural year of the Portland YMCA award was met with a huge response, with hundreds of nominations from district children.
From the many nominations, Mr Beattie was selected as the 2012 winner and he was also a finalist for the Victoria Father of the Year, which was announced yesterday.
Mr Beattie was nominated by his three children Bailey, Jade and Zahn and said that he was amazed and honoured at being announced the recipient of the award.
“It was beautiful, it almost brought a tear to my eye when I read what my kids wrote…I felt humbled really, Mandy my wife does all the work,” he said.
