PORTLAND Rotary president Steve Ellis and sponsorship manager Gail Barrett are going to give this artwork by Portland’s Patricia Grant-Phillips away to one lucky person at the Portland Rotary Art Exhibition’s 30th anniversary launch on November 2.
PORTLAND’S biggest art show is turning 30 this year, so organisers are rolling out the red carpet in celebration.
Rotary Portland Art Exhibition sponsorship managerGailBarrett said the weekend-long show on November 2 to 4 would have a red theme, and a new feature – a painting demonstration.
“We will have a red carpet from the foyer, and red decorations, and are asking people who come to the opening night on November 2 to wear a touch of red,” Mrs Barrett said.
“We will have spot prizes to tie in with the theme, so get out your red pants, dress or tie and join in the fun.”
Bendigoartist and a winner from last year’s art show, Colin Brown, will also demonstrate how he does his painting and talk to people interested in his techniques on Saturday and Sunday.
The show had humble beginnings, with crafts rather than artworks the main feature of the event in its early years.
