THE Seafarers transport bus has broken down, and they are asking for help from the community to get it back on the road.
For the past few months, the bus that has for years been used to transport seafarers has been waiting inHamiltonneeding $5000 worth of repairs to the engine.
Neville Manson, the Seafarers Portland manager said volunteers have been using their own vehicles for transportation and that they have run out of options to fund fixing the bus.
“This bus has been used for the last 12 years to transport seafarers who dock inPortlandaround the community and has provided a really valuable service.”
“We have never really asked for help before, but everywhere we have tried to get funding we have received a big no.
“It all seems to come down to the fact that we don’t fit the criteria of a community group.”
