AFTER 15 years of using a product that didn’t quite get the job done,Portlandbusinessman Jamie Cram took matters into his own hands and invented a tool that makes applying silicone sealer easier and neater.
The Silmax Jett Trowel — a small plastic trowel that can be fitted to a tube of silicone sealer, allowing the user to create a professional finish when applying silicone — was realised three years ago at Mr Cram’sPortlandbusiness, Jamie Cram Glass and Aluminium.
Now, Mr Cram is hoping his product will become an everyday household item after making it into the top 20 of the Bendigo Inventor Awards.
“It’s already been on sale at Mitre 10 (Portland) for a couple of years, I think I’ve sold about 500 there, and a fair few of the tradesmen are using it around town and it’s going well,” Mr Cram said.
